The fractional Cheeger problem

چکیده
Given an open and bounded set Ω ⊂ R , we consider the problem of minimizing the ratio between the s−perimeter and the N−dimensional Lebesgue measure among subsets of Ω. This is the nonlocal version of the well-known Cheeger problem. We prove various properties of optimal sets for this problem, as well as some equivalent formulations. In addition, the limiting behaviour of some nonlinear and nonlocal eigenvalue problems is investigated, in relation with this optimization problem. The presentation is as self-contained as possible.

Approximation of Maximal Cheeger Sets by Projection
This article deals with the numerical computation of the Cheeger constant and the approximation of the maximal Cheeger set of a given subset of R. This problem is motivated by landslide modelling as well as by the continuous maximal flow problem. Using the fact that the maximal Cheeger set can be approximated by solving a rather simple projection problem, we propose a numerical strategy to comp...
متن کاملAn Introduction to the Cheeger Problem
Given a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R with Lipschitz boundary, the Cheeger problem consists of finding a subset E of Ω such that its ratio perimeter/volume is minimal among all subsets of Ω. This article is a collection of some known results about the Cheeger problem which are spread in many classical and new papers. Full text
متن کاملUsing shifted Legendre scaling functions for solving fractional biochemical reaction problem
In this paper, biochemical reaction problem is given in the form of a system of non-linear differential equations involving Caputo fractional derivative. The aim is to suggest an instrumental scheme to approximate the solution of this problem. To achieve this goal, the fractional derivation terms are expanded as the elements of shifted Legendre scaling functions. Then, applying operational matr...
متن کاملA study of a Stefan problem governed with space–time fractional derivatives
This paper presents a fractional mathematical model of a one-dimensional phase-change problem (Stefan problem) with a variable latent-heat (a power function of position). This model includes space–time fractional derivatives in the Caputo sense and time-dependent surface-heat flux. An approximate solution of this model is obtained by using the optimal homotopy asymptotic method to find the solu...
متن کاملClose interval approximation of piecewise quadratic fuzzy numbers for fuzzy fractional program
The fuzzy approach has undergone a profound structural transformation in the past few decades. Numerous studies have been undertaken to explain fuzzy approach for linear and nonlinear programs. While, the findings in earlier studies have been conflicting, recent studies of competitive situations indicate that fractional programming problem has a positive impact on comparative scenario. We pro...
